Trenton community is too jaded to truly mourn loss of young lives [L.A. PARKER COLUMN]

Trenton Community's Reaction to Loss of Young Lives

The Trenton community has become desensitized to the loss of young lives, particularly those of Black boys, as if their deaths are a common occurrence.

On a recent night, while Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora and his aide Andrew Bobbitt were watching a football game, a 17-year-old boy named Gussiah McEachern was found wounded and barely alive on the 100 block of East Hanover St.

Despite a small crowd gathering to stop traffic, the community's reaction to McEachern's death was muted, highlighting the city's jaded response to such tragedies.

The city's indifference to the loss of young lives is a disturbing trend.

McEachern was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Author's summary: Trenton community is desensitized to young deaths.
