Residents are advised to prepare for potential power outages, with tree limbs possibly being blown down, and have flashlights and extra batteries on hand.
A High Wind Warning is issued when winds are expected to reach 40 mph or more, with gusts of 58 mph or more, to help prepare for possible property damage, disruptions to outdoor activities, and transportation issues.
Fast winds can make things much more dangerous in places with a higher risk of wildfires, and the National Weather Service issues a Red Flag Warning when it's very windy and dry.
