Sahel Consulting to Build Homegrown Food Systems
Sahel Consulting Agriculture & Nutrition Ltd. has partnered with the Mastercard Foundation, Heifer International, and GIZ to host the 2025 Changemakers Conference.
The event, which took place on November 4, 2025, brought together policymakers, business leaders, farmers, and development partners from across Africa to rethink the design and sustainability of agricultural systems.
Conference Objective
The conference aimed to shift the focus from short-term intervention projects to a people-centred and sustainable transformation of Africa’s food systems.
Theme and Keynote
The theme of the conference was “Designing for Legacy: Building Resilient and Impact-Driven Food Systems”. Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Bagudu, emphasized the importance of food systems transformation in national development planning.
“Building resilient and impact-driven food systems should be hardwired to any economic plan,”
he said.
