Election Roundup: Lumberton City Council

Lumberton City Council members Melissa Robinson, John Carroll, John Cantey, and Owen Thomas were reelected on Tuesday.

Each candidate was the only name on the ballot and won by a wide margin.

Precinct 5 Results

In Precinct 5, John Cantey won with 202 votes, more than 88% of the total, despite two write-in campaigns by Keith Copeland and Darryl Genus.

“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God, all of our church families, civic groups and especially the residents of Precinct 5 for entrusting me to a sixth term as their representative,”

Cantey, the senior member of the council, has served since 2005 and won a sixth term.
