Queens Botanical Garden to Host Annual 'Pumpkin Smash'
State Sen. John Liu, Assembly Member Nily Rozic, and Council Member Sandra Ung will host the second-annual community Pumpkin Smash at Queens Botanical Garden.
The event invites local residents to dispose of their Halloween pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns using a custom-made catapult.
- Location: Queens Botanical Garden's Compost Yard, 42-80 Crommelin St.
- Features: Pumpkin catapult, free apple cider, and countertop compost containers (while stocks last)
The custom-made catapult will launch leftover pumpkins into the air to smash them into compostable pieces.
The event aims to educate the community about the benefits of sustainable composting.
