Relegation-threatened Augsburg suffered their eighth home defeat in 10 across all competitions (W1, D1) as opponents Borussia Dortmund secured a 1-0 win to move up to second in the Bundesliga.
Augsburg had previously been battered 6-0 at the WWK Arena by RB Leipzig and knocked out by second-tier Bochum in the DFB-Pokal. They started the game solidly and had the first half-chance on 20 minutes as Dimitris Giannoulis’ cross found Mert Komür, but the 20-year-old missed from an angle.
Augsburg will have been desperately looking to make amends in front of their own fans.
