Hong Kong Tennis Open: last China players exit as top seed Bencic progresses
Zhang Shuai and Wang Yafan lost in straight sets, while Swiss No 1 Belinda Bencic continues her climb into the world top 10.
China's last two representatives at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open were eliminated on Wednesday. No 1 seed Belinda Bencic advanced after winning her matches.
- Zhang Shuai lost to Russia's Anna Kalinskaya 6-1, 6-1.
- Wang Yafan was defeated by Switzerland's Bencic 6-2, 6-2 in one hour and 16 minutes.
"I felt good on the court," Bencic said. "I tried to play aggressively, tried to play my game, and it worked out well.
