Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update and Switch 2 Edition
A major free update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is set to arrive in January, alongside a paid Switch 2 Edition upgrade.
Nintendo has announced that a free update will be released for all versions of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, while a $4.99 Switch 2 Edition upgrade will add features such as mouse controls and 12-player multiplayer.
The update and Switch 2 Edition will be available on January 15, 2026, with a $64.99 digital and physical Switch 2 version also launching on the same day.

- A new building, the Resort Hotel, tied to Kapp’n’s family
- A new reset option
- Shared Slumber Islands for online multiplayer with up to three extra islands
- New collaborations with extra villagers
Decorate rooms for guests to lure in visitors and earn tickets to spend on new cosmetics.
The Resort Hotel features new tasks, clothes, and furniture, while the Slumber Island allows for collaborative work with other players.
