Belleville Welcomes New Doctor
The City of Belleville has entered an agreement to welcome Dr. Toqa Elkashef to the city through its Family Physician Recruitment Program, as announced by Mayor Neil Ellis on Monday in council.
Mayor Ellis stated,
I believe this is number 23 if I am correct, referring to the number of new physicians recruited to practise in the city during this term of council. This recruitment aims to address the doctor shortage affecting up to 15,000 residents.
The city's recruitment efforts have brought the total number of doctors to well above 60 since the program's introduction in 2006. Additionally, eight new nurse practitioners have been recruited to the city.
