Journalists' Struggle for Environmental Coverage

30 journalists embody the struggle for freely reported environmental coverage, facing obstruction, threats, arrest, attack, jail, or even death.

From Cambodia to the Amazon, and from France to Egypt, journalists covering natural resource stories are often persecuted. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) highlights 30 such cases from the past year.

In light of COP30, starting on November 10 in Belém, Brazil, RSF urges governments to defend reliable reporting and its actors in the fight against climate change.

Our goal: to leave no breach of freedom of information unreported.

RSF publishes daily reports, investigations, and a world press freedom ranking from its regional offices and network of correspondents in 115 countries.

Author's summary: Journalists face persecution for environmental coverage.
