THC-infused drinks have largely gone unnoticed by Kansas lawmakers until recently.

The executive director of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Robert Stuart, has urged state lawmakers to outlaw drinks infused with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Although marijuana remains illegal in Kansas, THC-infused beverages are considered hemp products and are permitted under the 2018 federal Farm Bill, which legalized cannabis plants containing no more than 0.3% of their weight in THC.

These products, often advertised as Delta 9 items, can have a weaker effect than marijuana due to their lower THC content.
