Rossana Pérez, a Los Angeles professor, writer, and activist, was arrested by a death squad and imprisoned in her native El Salvador for months before arriving as a refugee to Los Angeles over 40 years ago.
Now, she supports others who have overcome unthinkable trauma in their home countries to continue their lives in the United States.

Ongoing, aggressive immigration raids since June have impacted the physical and mental health of Latinos across Los Angeles.
