UMD Football Upset by Northern State
The UMD football team, with its highest ranking since 2018, visited Northern State but lost 34-31.
Despite not scoring first, the Wolves took a 20-10 lead into halftime. The game became more interesting in the third quarter when Daniel Britt made a notable play:
Daniel Britt faked the handoff, rolled to his right and lofted it to DJ Smith to make it 27-17.
After UMD reduced the deficit to three, Britt made another significant play, keeping the ball on the option and running 28 yards to increase the lead to 10. With under two minutes left, Kyle Walljasper found Luke Dehnicke in the end zone. The Bulldogs recovered an onside kick but ultimately lost after an interception.
This loss marked the first time UMD lost back-to-back games in the series since 2000.
