Former Nursing Assistant Indicted in Patient's Death
A former nursing assistant, Diamond Johnson, has been indicted for negligent homicide after a patient's death at a nursing home in Baton Rouge.
According to the Louisiana Attorney General, the indictment followed an investigation by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
- The incident occurred in June 2024 at Jefferson Manor nursing home.
- Johnson was using a hydraulic lift to move a patient from a chair to a bed when the patient fell out and landed on the lift's feet.
- The patient became unresponsive 40 minutes after the fall and could not be resuscitated.
The patient died from complications from blunt force injuries due to the fall, according to the autopsy report.
