China Slams US Over “Double Standards”
China accused the United States of “double standards” after President Donald Trump announced a new 100 percent tariff targeting Chinese goods.
"The relevant US statement is a typical example of 'double standards',"
an unnamed Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesperson said. The tariffs are a response to China’s new export restrictions on rare-earth minerals, which Trump called “extraordinarily aggressive”.
- The additional tariffs are set to begin on 1 November.
- The tariff will be levied "over and above any tariff they are currently paying".
