Election Day in New York: What's Open and Closed
Election Day is a state holiday in New York, resulting in the closure of state and local government buildings.
Although government offices are closed, the Long Island Rail Road and mass transit will operate on a normal schedule.
According to the Time Off to Vote Notice (New York State Election Law Section 3-110), employees can take up to two hours off without losing pay to vote if they cannot attend the polls during their shift.
