As Six Flags’ Maryland location closes shop, longtime visitors say goodbye

Six Flags America Closes Its Doors

The Six Flags location in Maryland has closed, leaving longtime visitors to bid farewell. The park's parent company, which manages over 40 amusement parks in North America, announced the closure in May.

For Lise Bruneau, a Washington, D.C. resident, Six Flags America holds a special place in her heart. She started taking her family there 16 years ago, where her son learned to swim and she rekindled her childhood love for amusement parks.

“We will feel its loss,” she said. “I feel it already.”

Six Flags America and its water park, Hurricane Harbor, closed permanently on Sunday, drawing a crowd of all ages for a final day of reminiscing.

After years of creating memories, the park's closure marks the end of an era for many families.
