Waterloo Man Charged for Firing Shotgun Within Village Limits
A 52-year-old local man, Shawn J. Sweeney, was charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm on Saturday morning.
According to the Waterloo Police Department, Sweeney fired two shotgun rounds while duck hunting on the canal inside the Village of Waterloo.
- He used a 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun.
- The incident occurred within village boundaries, violating Local Law 171-4 related to firearms and explosives.

Sweeney was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Waterloo Court at a later date.
