With the November 4th election approaching, voters are reminded that ballots must be in or postmarked by 8 p.m. on election day.
According to the County Elections Office, approximately 52,000 ballots had been returned about two weeks ago, with around 80% of eligible voters in Santa Barbara County still having their ballots but not yet mailing them.
The election office has added staff to address voter issues and answer phone calls in person, including last-minute registration.
The pace of ballot returns has picked up, but election officials can only estimate the ultimate turnout at this point.
This is a unique election where the ballot in front of voters asks for only one choice.
Author's summary: Election pace picks up with one item on ballot.
