West Virginia broke a five-game losing streak by defeating No. 22 Houston on the road, securing their first Big 12 win.
The Mountaineers' offense maintained momentum from their previous game against TCU, leading to Rich Rodriguez's first ranked win since returning to West Virginia.
"Good to have a happy locker room," Rodriguez said. "I was like 'Where's this been?' It's been there. We just had to put it all together."
True freshman quarterback Scotty Fox Jr. led the team to victory in his third start, despite being less accurate than in the previous game against TCU.
West Virginia now stands at 1-5 in the Big 12 and 3-6 overall, while Houston is 7-2 and likely to be removed from the AP Top 25.
