The Meridian High School field hockey team lost 3-0 to Western Albemarle in the Regional Finals.
The game was marked by a 15-minute stoppage due to malfunctioning lights at Jack Gambill Athletic Field, which occurred late in the second quarter. At that point, Western Albemarle was already leading 2-0, with one goal in each of the first two periods.
Despite earning some quality chances, the Meridian Mustangs were unable to overcome the deficit. The team had been on a wave of momentum after three consecutive overtime wins, but ultimately fell short.
The Warriors of Western Albemarle got the better of Anne Steenhoek’s squad.
