Robeson County will be represented by two runners at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s cross country state championships: Lumberton’s Nate Lawson and Red Springs’ Gerardo Marin Amaya.
These two have impressed all season in their cross-country meets and now they will compete against the best in the state.
The state championships will be held Friday and Saturday at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville.
“It feels good (to be headed to the state championship),” Lawson said. “I just have to keep going and keep the same mindset.”
“I’m just going to follow the next best runner,” he said. “If I can pass him, I’ll pass him and keep running.”
