Tensions Between JMPD and SAPS Escalate
Johannesburg Public Safety MMC Mngcini Tshwaku has escalated the tensions between the Joburg metro police and SAPS to Gauteng Cooperative Governance MEC Jacon Mamabolo.
The two law enforcement agencies have been at loggerheads over recent weeks amid allegations and counter-allegations over arrests made by the two agencies.
- The tension between the two started earlier this month when SAPS officers arrested JMPD officers at a crime scene in Bekkersdal.
- In response, last week, JMPD arrested seven SAPS officers for alleged extortion and kidnappings.
