The real spook: Halloween candy prices increase triple the inflation rate

Halloween Candy Prices See Significant Increase

Halloween treats have become more expensive this year, with prices increasing by 10.8% compared to last year, over triple the inflation rate of 3%.

According to an economics professor from Quincy University, Cynthia Haliemun, the high prices of candies and chocolates may lead people to buy less or opt for different brands.

"The prices for candies and chocolates are very high, so higher than last year, so I'm not surprised if people buy less or not giving out too many people, less frequent maybe, and maybe change it to a different brand,"

Factors contributing to the price increase include tariffs, increased energy costs, and higher labor wages passed on to the consumer. The price increase is significantly higher than the 2.1% increase seen from 2023 to 2024.

Author's summary: Halloween candy prices increased by 10.8% this year.
