Rangers are set for another brutal managerial snub after Steven Gerrard turned down a return to the club. Gerrard was the favorite to succeed Russell Martin, who was relieved of his duties earlier this month after just 123 days in charge.
The team is struggling in the Scottish Premiership, currently sitting in eighth position with only eight points from seven games, and averaging less than a goal per game. Martin's sacking came after a 1-1 draw with Falkirk.
Gerrard, who managed Rangers from 2018 to 2021, had been in talks to return to the club, but has now rejected the opportunity. He had previously left Rangers to manage Aston Villa and later took over Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia in 2023.
Steven Gerrard had been expected to return to Glasgow for a second stint.
Rangers are now back to square one in their search for a new manager.
