The Ottawa Mission Prepares for Largest Thanksgiving Meal

The Ottawa Mission is gearing up to serve 17,000 Thanksgiving meals, despite challenges posed by the Canada Post strike.

CEO Peter Tilley stated that approximately three weeks of preparations have gone into the meal, ensuring everyone in Ottawa can access a comforting holiday meal.

"The day of the big meal tomorrow, starting at 4 a.m., we start bringing out the trays and steaming them so that we maintain the freshness and they're still juicy pieces of meat when we serve them up to the people who come in our doors,"

he said. Volunteers and staff have been working hard to prep frozen turkeys and plate food for the Thanksgiving feast, which will be served from the Mission's downtown location.

Author's summary: Ottawa Mission serves 17,000 meals.
