Voter registration fraud leads to charges against 7, state says

Voter Registration Fraud Leads to Charges

Seven individuals have been charged with falsifying voter registration forms in last year's election, according to Pennsylvania Attorney General David Sunday.

Forms were flagged as "potentially problematic" by election officials, leading to the discovery. A year-long review of thousands of registration forms resulted in charges against the director of the registration drive and six canvassers from Pennsylvania.

Investigators said Guillermo Sainz, 33, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, an employee of Field+Media Corps, “instituted unlawful financial incentives and pressures in his push to meet company goals to maintain funding which in turn spurred some canvassers to create and submit fake forms to earn more money.

The charges were filed for personal gain, not for political reasons. The individuals charged include the director of the registration drive and six canvassers.

Author's summary: Seven charged with voter registration fraud for personal gain.
