The Seneca Chief's Voyage
The Seneca Chief is a reminder of what was gained and lost with the development of the Erie Canal.
On its voyage, a barrel has been filling with waters collected from each stop along the Erie Canal. At each port, representatives are presented with a white pine tree, the Haudenosaunee's "great tree of peace," to plant.

Buffalo Maritime Center Executive Director Brian Trzeciak and Education Director Chelsea Moore discussed the voyage with The Buffalo News. The crowd gathered at Lauraville Landing Park to greet the Seneca Chief.
