President Cyril Ramaphosa has lauded Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa as a dedicated public servant of South Africa.
Delivering the eulogy at his funeral at KwaMbonambi in Kwa-Zulu Natal, the President recalled Nathi Mthethwa’s life of dedication to activism and loyalty to African National Congress (ANC) principles even in difficult terrains.
He was of a generation that came of age as our democracy was about to dawn. It was a generation of young lions that saw the end of apartheid and ushered in a new era of freedom and justice.
President Ramaphosa called on ANC members to reflect on Mthethwa’s life, who was deeply pained by the party’s divisions, describing him as a thinker and teacher within the liberation movement.
Mthethwa taught valuable lessons about courage and never lost sight of what drew him into the struggle, he says.
