John Forsey Guns in Welling will close on December 31 as founder John Forsey, aged 87, retires after 66 years in the trade.
Mr. Forsey opened his first shop in 1959, trading as Gentry's, with a mix of sportswear, fishing tackle, air rifles, and tobacco. Notable customers included boxing champion Henry Cooper.

When Gentry's closed in the early 1990s, Mr. Forsey restarted the business in 1994 as John Forsey Guns.
