Father Charles H. Muzzey Passes Away at 93

Father Charles Henry Muzzey, a priest of the Archdiocese of Washington for six decades, died on October 6, 2025, at his residence in Laurel, Maryland.

He was born on December 12, 1932, in Newark, New Jersey, to Charles Melvin and Gertrude Marie (Fahle) Muzzey.

Before becoming a priest, Father Muzzey attended Ardsley High School in Ardsley, New York, and earned a bachelor's degree from Saint Mary's College in Saint Mary, Kentucky, in 1961.

He also served in the U.S. Navy as a communications technician and worked for IBM as a comptometer operator and systems planner.

Father Muzzey was ordained by Cardinal Patrick O'Boyle as a priest of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington on May 8, 1965.

He served faithfully in parishes across Maryland and in hospital ministry for six decades.
