Jackson Commissioner Attendance Issue
According to the January 3, 2024, meeting of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners, newly elected Commissioner Jenny Lynn Hooper expressed her willingness to serve on several boards, including the Tourism Development Authority, Transit Board, and the Mountain Projects board.
However, records from these boards indicate that Commissioner Hooper has missed at least 13 out of 16 meetings this year. She attended the first meeting of 2025 on January 15 but has not been present since, with her absence noted in every meeting minute from February to August.
The Tourism Development Authority (TDA) is responsible for collecting and spending proceeds from the county's 6% room occupancy tax. Notably, 17 Jackson TDA meeting minutes have not yet been posted.
