Nevada football returned to Mackay Stadium after 28 days, facing San Diego State in its Mountain West home opener.

The Wolf Pack started with true freshman Carter Jones as quarterback, the first since Kaymen Cureton in 2017. However, the team went three-and-out on its opening drive.

SDSU's Jordan Napier returned the ensuing punt 75 yards for a touchdown, giving the Aztecs an early lead of 7-0 just 59 seconds into the game.

A pick-6 by Chris Johnson increased the Aztecs' lead to 14-0 with 7:11 remaining in the first quarter. The Aztecs continued to dominate, scoring touchdowns on three consecutive first-half drives.

By halftime, SDSU had a commanding 35-0 lead, ultimately winning the game 44-10.
