As a student at El Camino College, I believe that textbooks and course materials should be included in the cost of a class.
With rising tuition and education costs, many colleges have not taken sufficient measures to reduce student expenditures. The cost of class materials is an additional financial burden, often feeling like an extra expense for required reading.
This semester, I enrolled in three classes, each costing $46 per unit for California residents, plus additional required fees. While this is more affordable than private colleges, there is room for improvement in terms of transparency regarding where student money is spent.
